The Preventive Agenda - Advancing Resilient WASH Sectors and Communities

During the SWWW 2023, UNICEF WASH positioned the Prevention Agenda through advancing resilient WASH Sectors and Communities, which was well received by the 60+ participants that attended a UNICEF-hosted breakfast event.  UNICEF tabled its work in the space including the Global WASH Sector Resilience Index (GWSRI), which was also welcomed by participants, stating that this will need support and participation from the broader WASH community to further the goals and concept behind the GWSRI. 

As per WHO/UNICEF JMP report 2023, people living in fragile contexts are Twice as likely to lack access to safely managed drinking water and basic hygiene and 1.5 times as likely to lack safely managed sanitation services. UNICEF’s ongoing work in the WASH sector is helping o improve knowledge and ensures practical solutions.
