A snapshot of the study

This desk study was co-commissioned by Save the children, UNICEF and the World Food Programme. The study covers the periods between 2015 and 2020 and focusses on invisible out of school children and the formal education system. The study covers Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, turkey and Yemen. The study has four focus areas

  • Out of school children: a presentation of out of school children’s profiles and figures
  • Barriers and motivating factors: an analysis of the barriers and motivating factors that school-age children face to sustained (re)engagement in education
  • Policies and programmes: an analysis of he policies and programmes currently in place that affect out of school children
  • Recommendations: to address the findings and for further research
